Monte Verde Ranch, a live water hunting and cattle ranch spans approximately 878 acres in the Moreno Valley of northeastern New Mexico, between Eagle Nest and Angel Fire. This historic property borders the Colin Neblett National Forest and is ideally located 5 miles from the Angel Fire Airstrip, with jet service available, 30 minutes from the Red River, 45 minutes from Taos, and 100 miles from Santa Fe. Surrounded by recreational destinations on and off the ranch, there is everything from fishing, to hiking, hunting, snow skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling in the backcountry. The ranchs gated entrance fronts on the east side of Highway 64 with excellent ranch roads that navigate throughout.
The ranch is framed by mountains, including incredible views of Eagle Nest and Wheeler Peak; the tallest peak in New Mexico, which is just across the valley and up the hill. The main home is ideally situated to take in all the best views that the ranch has to offer. It is a historic rock home with luxurious high-end finishes throughout, boasting 5,500 square-feet on two levels with five bedrooms, four bathrooms, several rock fireplaces, a spacious porch, hot tub, and a firepit. Adjacent to the home, there is a pond with stone steps leading down to the water and giving the property a luxurious resort-like feel. Numerous local weddings, family reunions, and gatherings of all kinds have been hosted on the Monte Verde Ranch throughout the years.
Nestled on the banks of American Creek is a 3,500 square-foot guest home with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Additionally, there is a recently constructed 1,200 square-foot foremans house with two bedrooms and one bathroom. Exceptional housing, along with many more possible homesites, makes this the perfect ranch to host family, friends, and hunters alike.
Approximately two miles of American Creek and over a mile and a half of Cieneguilla Creek water the ranch. They merge on the property to form the headwaters for Eagle Nest Lake, which is about two miles away. Summertime showers and irrigation on the creeks make this one of the most well-watered ranches in New Mexico. There are also several water wells that supply the improvements on the property.
The ranch is currently set up for a yearling operation with unbelievable opportunities for hunting as well. When fall arrives, so do the massive Wapiti. Elk herds come out of National Forest onto the private serenity of Monte Verde Ranch. There are Elk in every direction during the fall and winter; including trophy bulls and plenty of cows to fill the freezers. Bald and golden eagles can be observed on their daily flights up and down the creeks. In addition, there are wolves, mountain lions, black bear, mule deer, and turkey that are all in abundance.
Monte Verde Ranch is low fenced and cross fenced with a variety of terrain and topography, including wide open fields, thick forests, winding creeks, and hidden meadows. There are striking elevation changes ranging from 8,200-9,000 feet that provide sweeping views of the landscape. This is an ideal family recreational ranch with a plethora of activities to indulge in. The locals consider the Monte Verde Ranch as The Crown Jewel of the Moreno Valley.
