A gently sloping, open grass field forms the front quarter of the ranch with a seasonal small pond located near the northeast corner. The remainder of the property is a mixture of limestone hills with medium density cedar brush and savannah meadows bordered by mature oak trees.
Several deeper soiled meadows are found to the south of the headquarters. In this area of the property there are motts of mature oaks, heritage-sized cedar trees, hackberry, and cedar elm that surround native mixed-grass fields.
Elevation rises from 1,490 feet above sea level at the front gate to about 1,620 feet at the top of the hill in the southwest quadrant. That hilltop provides a 360 degree panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.

Nearby Hill Country Natural Area:
The Hill Country Natural Area offers 40 miles of horseback riding, hiking, and biking trails through some beautiful Texas countryside. Located near the transition between the Edwards Plateau and Northern Rio Grande Plain, the terrain generally consists of steep, hard limestone hills with narrow valleys. There is a surprising diversity of vegetation found along the southern edge of the Edwards Plateau. Viewing the old ranch headquarters in the park encourages an appreciation for our ranching heritage.
Direct access to the adjoining state natural area is currently through a gate in the ranch's south fence and is governed by a park access agreement with Texas Parks and Wildlife. Prospective buyers will need to apply and qualify with Texas Parks and Wildlife for access under a new agreement.
A nice ranch adjoining a state natural area in Texas is a rare find. Combine that with the business opportunities afforded by the improvements in place and the result is an exceptional property. Whether used for personal enjoyment or a business venture, this ranch is unique.
