October TALB Meeting
Date(s) - 10/25/2017
11:15 am - 1:00 pm
January Wiese, Executive Director of the Texas Hill Country Wineries Association, will be giving us an update on the local wine industry.
January entered the wine industry in 1991 when her parents purchased a vineyard in Paso Robles and started a winery named for January and her sister, JanKris Vineyard & Winery. She grew up working in all aspects of the family business before graduating from Montana State University with an Ag Business degree. After graduation she took over winery operations, from tasting room to distribution and events to managing harvest, until the family sold the winery in 2007 when she married a Texan and moved to Austin.
January has been in the Texas wine industry since 2007 starting at a local winery, transferring to the association side as Event Coordinator for Texas Hill Country Wineries and in 2012 named the Executive Director of the association. Currently she plans the association consumer events, works with Growers and Winemakers on educational and fundraising events, plans educational events for tasting room staff and winery management as well as marketing, promotion and local outreach for the association as a whole. January is the organizer of the annual Hill Country Wine Symposium hosted by THCW, a 2-day wine industry educational conference.
